10 Best Classic American Muscle Cars

6. 1969 Ford Fairlane/Torino Cobra

These days, to own one of only 3000 Cobra hardtops ever built, would make a collector seriously happy. Back in 1969, many of these vehicles were ordered for drag racing. The Ford Cobra, later called the Torino Cobra was serious powerful.

There were two main body styles, the hardtop and the far more common sports roof edition. The car’s performance offered 335 horsepower as standard and a 428 cubic inch V8 engine. One could order an additional Ram Air to give this muscle car extra performance. But only Ford’s 1969 Cobra had a locking rear differential.

And while a good number of different versions of the Cobras were created over the years, it’s the 1969 Torino Cobra that really gets muscle fans hot under the hood.
