4. 1969 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1


If you wanted to buy a Camaro ZL 1 in 1969, you would have had to cough up a serious $7,200 – which was pretty expensive at the time. But if you want to buy one of these powerful muscle cars today, you’d have to lay down a cool million dollars. And it’s not easy to get your hands on one either, this was the least produced car that ever left a Chevrolet factory.

That’s right, even from the start, the Chevrolet Camaro ZL 1 was a million dollar car. The name is still used today by Chevrolet, but today’s vehicle is very much the great grand child of the legend of muscle cars that is the 1969 Chevy Camaro ZL 1.

The Camaro ZL1 was based on with Chevy’s unique 427 cubic inch V8 engine. However, the Chevy ZL 1 replaced the standard iron block in that engine with aluminum. Officially, the car had 430 brake horsepower, but tests have shown that the engine is capable of much more – just one more reason why the Chevrolet Camaro ZL 1 just had to be on our top ten list of the best muscle cars.
