However, in the early 2000s, Porsche strayed from what they do best and built an SUV that nobody expected potential owners to want. Boy, were they wrong. The Cayenne eventually outsold the 911. Porsche continued to design SUVs, which lead to a smaller model, the Macan that also fared well on the market.
