Amazing Cars From The 1950’s That Should Never Be Forgotten

The 1959 MG MGA 1500

Replacing the MG 1500 Midget, and originally launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the MG MGA 1500 was in production for seven years. It was designed to look visually different from the earlier sports cars produced by MG. By the time that production stopped, MG has sold over 100,000 of these cars. The ’59 version, which places here in our list was upgraded to give it an engine with much more power, offering almost 80 horsepower. This model was innovative because it had disk brakes for the front wheels and drum brakes in the rear.

The MGA was entered into NASCAR a year later, but unfortunately, it failed to win a single race. Nevertheless, in 1960, an ’59 MG MGA 1500 appeared with Elvis Presley and Angela Lansbury in the film Blue Hawaii.
