Car Technology That is now Obsolete (or will be soon, we hope)

Modular cars

People’s preferences for cars vary just as they do for things like food or sports teams. We as humans also have a desire to be unique and stand out. For these reasons, car makers in the 1960s and 1970s believed that drivers would want to “create” their own cars by purchasing special car bodies and features that would make an ordinary car into an extraordinary, one of the kind vehicle.

However, this idea only made it to market with the Nissan Pulsar NX from 1986 to 1990 with targa top, hatchback, and sport back options. Unfortunately for Nissan, this “build-a-car” was not successful and production was discontinued.
