Ashtrays

Ashtrays. You might now be wondering if they were every standard in cars. But they used to be located on the dashboard – right next to the electric cigarette lighter. Some were even part of the arm rests.

But ashtrays weren’t just for smokers. They were great places for keeping coins or the wrappers for snacks or old chewing gum.

I suppose since smoking became unpopular, designers no longer felt the need to put in ashtrays. Some cars can be chosen that have ‘the smoking package’ with them. But they’re not so popular.
