1982 Cadillac Cimarron
GM’s Luxury car division Cadillac is synonymous with style and quality. But the Cimarron failed on all levels. The four cylinder Cimarron was designed to compete with European imports like Mercedes-Benz and the BMW. But buyers were repulsed by the kiddie’s toy engine place under the hood. Where they expected to find a powerful V8, instead, they were treated to the motor of a hairdryer.
The style and interiors of the Cimarron were also heavily criticized. The Cimarron was an utter financial failure and was taken out of production after just 6 years. Looking back on the Cimarron, it was judged very harshly. It was just too poor, tiny, awkward and lumbering to compete with the exciting foreign imports like the BMW and Mercedes.
It is said that the most recent director of production at Cadillac has a picture of the Cimarron on his wall, with the words “Lest We Forget” written beneath it. Readers, experts and anyone who has ever been close to a Cimarron all nominate this car as The Worst.
