The 25 Most Reliable Trucks

4. 1983-2001 Jeep Cherokee

We know that some of you have been waiting to see where the Cherokee would end up on our list. Although all of them are built with durability in mind, we are impartial to the XJ from the years 1983 to 2001 due its lightweight body and impressive strength. There almost seems to be competition amongst Cherokee drivers to see how long drivers can own these vehicles with them in working condition. For instance, it is not uncommon for some to reach 300,000 without having to be rebuilt. When a repair is necessary, it doesn’t hurt that so many were produced, which allows for inexpensive repairs. The 1984 model made available the year before was the first vehicle released by Jeep with a ladder-boxed chassis in addition to a single monocoque unit, as opposed to the more common body-on-frame construction. This more rugged design was a hit and can be found with either two or four doors.
