Although Toyota’s trucks didn’t quite have the same charm as rugged American ones, they were utterly reliable. They were originally introduced to the world in 1968 and while they weren’t pretty, they certainly built a reputation for being durable.

In 1979, Toyota improved the truck to offer four wheel drive, and later in 1983, they improved it inside too. The Hilux featured 2.4 liter four cylinder engines that were known around the world for being tough and reliable.

While it was low on luxury, the Toyota was known as one tough and reliable truck.
