The 25 Toughest Trucks That Get The Job Done

1978 Dodge Little Red Express

One of Dodge’s toys for adults, the Little Red Express was less interested in working power, and more interested in showing off. The Lil’ Red was fitted with a police-standard V8 engine, giving some real power under the hood.

It wasn’t very friendly to the environment. But due to a small loophole in the regulations surrounding emissions, the engineers could get away with upgrading engines without fear.

And it was fast, faster than some of the Porsches and Ferraris of 1978 too. Actually, at the time, it had the top acceleration from zero to 100 miles per hour of any road vehicle in America. All this in a cute looking fire engine red pick up from Dodge.
