The Seven Least Reliable Cars Of 2017

HYUNDAI Tucson

Hyundai Motor America began selling cars in the USA in 1986. The first model was a Hyundai XL. As a new car, the XL had record selling sales in its first year but alas, due to woeful quality and reliability, the car was discontinued resulting in a damaged reputation.

Over the years, Hyundai has made incredible improvements to their cars and have issued many fine models.

The Hyundai Tucson is a handsome, compact sport – ute. Redesigned in 2016, it featured a larger cabin, comfier seating, added cargo room, more refinement and new technology. This updated Tuscan made it very competitive in the sports-ute market.

This update has a downside. Hyundai Tucson brought out a new 175 hp 1.6 litre turbo charged engine. The engine isn’t bad. The accompanying dual-clutch automatic transmission is another matter. This transmission has many problems which include hesitation in traffic, lurching, and overheating. There have been total mechanics failures.

There have been numerous recalls (usually software upgrades) but the transmission continues to have problems. Even though there is a five year warranty, Hyundai Tuscan buyers have to make ongoing repairs. The lower model Tuscan with a 2 litre engine and conventional automatic are much more reliable.
