The Worst Cars of the 1970s

Bond Bug Three-Wheeler (1970-1974)

Under British law in the Seventies, a car with 3 wheels was cheaper than a car with four. While that shouldn’t be a reason to make a design decision, these guys definitely thought it was a good idea.

The Bond Bug was made of fibreglass, like so many other lemons. In the end, it looked very ugly and unappealing, and was offered in terrible colors of Day Glory Orange and a limited Pea Green. Theses options further reduced the visible appeal of the vehicle.

This car was a sales nightmare. They sold only 2000 units in total. Most of them must have been sold as a joke or a gift for someone they didn’t like. Bond ended up going bust. Not surprising given the quality of this particular lemon.

These days, the Bond three wheeler has a cult status, as well as remaining in our memory as a bug that someone should have squashed long ago.
