British Leyland estimated that this car would sell over 6000 units per month. They may have over-estimated somewhat. It actually sold only 400 units per week – such was the MAXImum popularity of the car.

The gears were made from cables. This was a real backwards step in car building. As such, it was horrible to drive, you could get out and make a cup of tea while it was changing gears.

They aimed for this car was to be a major competitor in the hatchback market.

It wasn’t and it failed horribly.
