L’Automodule
Europe in the 1970s was a time of great experimentation, with designers and artists drawing inspiration from science fiction to create the technology of the future.
French engineer Jean-Pierre Ponthieu wanted to push cars out of their comfort zone by creating a spherical vehicle that seated three and boasted four wheels supported by hydraulic masts. That variable wheelbase allowed the Automodule to adjust its height off of the ground to deal with a wide variety of terrain.
Only one Automodule was ever built, sadly.
