You are still getting swindled and bamboozled by the automotive industry

No replacement for displacement

This was a very popular saying many moons ago, but these days it really just doesn’t hold much weight. When the top racing league in the world, F1, is trading in V8’s and V10’s for turbo 6’s you know this phrase truly doesn’t have much meaning left. With how compact and efficient gas engines have become its no wonder they have also become lower in displacement. Add on the advent and high reliability of the modern day turbo and supercharger it’s even easier to get the same or greater power output from a smaller engine. In racing the power to weight ratio, the weight loss will almost always be the most important factor, the less weight required to move the easier it is on your powertrain. When you can make the engine both lighter and more powerful, that’s real progress.
