Americans Are In Love With These Classic Cars

3. MG TD

Although by today’s standards, it might not seem like much, but the MG TD is arguably the best-handling car in the 1950s. The MG TD is much less popular than both the Corvette and Mustang, but it is likely that these classic cars owe their existence to it. With only minor changes, the MG T-Type cars were produced between the years of 1936 and 1955. They were extremely popular with many of the GIs that were stationed across the pond in European countries such as France and Italy. After their deployment, these GIs then often shipped these cars home in order to drive and race them back in the United States. The MG TD was the first model that was officially sold in the U.S. and even at the time, they did have an older look to them, but this did not mean that they were not popular. They were also the first cars sold in the United States that really started to legitimize the sports car in America. It wasn’t long before both Ford and Chevy designed their own versions of the MG TD, Ford’s Thunderbird and Chevy’s Corvette. The TD came in at number one in the state of Wyoming. Who knew?
