Common Driving Mistakes

Crossing Lanes While Turning

A very common mistake is crossing over multiple lanes when you are turning a corner. This is a potentially dangerous mistake which a lot of people make.

If you aren’t sure of the correct procedure for turning, then continue reading. Whenever you want to turn within your own lane, you should use your car’s turn signal to let everyone know that you are changing lane. People often drive wide of their own lane and end up accidentally changing lanes while turning.

This is a cause of vehicle collisions as other drivers, not expecting you to cross, are unaware of your intentions to change.

Unfortunately, people’s general turning skills leave something to be desired. Plus they really don’t pay too much attention to what’s happening around them when they are turning in their own lane.

Stay in your lane when you are turning! This is one small adjustment to your driving skills that could save you from making a very costly mistake.
