Not Using Your Turn Signal

What are our turn signals for? Some people may need to ask themselves this question. Are they some fashionable accessory that’s found in our car. We ask this question because some people seem to treat them like an optional extra their car. Yes, some people really don’t use their turn signals at all.

Trust us, they are not optional! The turn signal is such an important part of safe driving, you almost can’t believe that people don’t use them. Whether it’s changing lanes on the highway or turning a corner in a busy town street, using the turn signal is a sign to the other drivers of what you are planning to do. This gives them a heads up and allows them the time to react to our behaviour.

If you make a maneuver without using the signal, if gives other drivers no warning at all. Equally, those that start indicating that they plan to make a move twenty minutes before they actually do it can also cause other drivers to struggle to anticipate what and when are you going to make the turn.

Whether it’s not using the turn signal, or using it far too early, the correct use of the signal is good driving etiquette and something we should all take care to do properly.
