Not only was there irreparable damage done to Mark’s car but he was also unable to access the things that he had packed in his trunk due to the broken latch. Most importantly, he was not able to get to important documents that his wife needed. Since the Boxster S is still not drivable, Mark is forced to rent a car to drive. He is ensured that the shipping company will cover the cost of the rental car. Unfortunately for him, Mark did not think ahead and failed to get proof of this agreement in writing since he foolishly believed the manager when he said that he would resolve the issue. However, he later stops answering Mark’s phone calls and seemingly disappears.
It is a few days still before the mechanic comes to check out the situation. He later had the car towed to his shop where he opens the trunk manually by using the trunk cable. It is then that the revelation is made that all of the trunk’s contents are soaked, including those important documents and books. Since the manager had been ignoring his calls, Mark asks that the mechanic calls him using his phone. He is informed that the manager is in meetings all day but that he will call back. When he does call back he mentions that the workers in New Jersey are claiming that the car was dripping wet when it was given to them.
