The Quickest Cars of the 1950s

6) 1957 Porsche 1500 RS Spyder — 7.2 seconds (tied for 7th and 8th Place)

I can say without a doubt that the Porsche Spyder is a thrilling vehicle to drive. It is ferociously powerful, quick off the mark, and renowned for being one of the quickest sports cars in competition history. It has a complicated personality. When driving, hammer down on the highway, it’s a remarkably stable drive, easy, controlled, and tremendously sensitive to your intentions. One can drive this car pretty fast, but to drive it at the speeds it’s capable of, one would need an expert driver. And even our test driver wasn’t capable of truly pushing this car to its limits, and that’s possibly why it only achieved a tied place in our list.
