The Quickest Cars of the 1950s

7. The 1958 Chevrolet 315 Delray — 7.2 seconds (tie with 8th Place)

Without a doubt, if you’re looking for pure performance, then the ’58 Chevrolet 315 Delray is a phenomenal driving experience. The noise from the engine reminded me of an aircraft taking off. The tremendous 315 horsepower signals its intention with a powerful, thunderous roar – that kind of sound we associate with drag races and the speed tests on the famous Bonneville flats. This car is built for speed and the engine is the complete racing machine. This car’s cornering is so much better than the ’57 Chevy. The back end doesn’t give it up easily and will only do that if you push her. To be frank, this car is a dream to drive, a fantasy come true for car lovers.
