The Quickest Cars of the 1950s

5. The 1957 Dual Quad Chevy Corvette – 6.8 seconds

The most remarkable thing about this Chevrolet Corvette is how easy it is to start. Simply twist the ignition switch to activate and take the necessary care not to flood on hot starts. The idle stays at around 500 rpm, but you’ll soon feel the lumps and the bodily shakes. Eliminating the shaking would require the installation of a competition cam. Once the parts are installed and in place, the Chevrolet Corvette’s Dual Quad checks out pretty nicely.
