The World’s Record Breaking Cars

CHEAPEST: TATA NANO

The manufacturer of Jaguar and Land Rover distinguishes itself as being the producer of the world’s least expensive car. Tata Nano originally sold for $1600US (2008). Presently (2017) the price has risen to a little over $4000 US. Being the cheapest doesn’t necessarily make it the worst. The idea of the Nano was to convert India, a country of motorcycle riders, into a nation of car drivers. This four seater has a lot of cost saving such as flat side glass, a single wiper, no tailgate, three wheel nuts, and a single door lock. Surprisingly, given how spartan these cars are, air conditioning was offered. The engine is a 625cc twin-cylinder that produces 35 hp. Since the car is only 600 kg it can cruise at 50 to 55 miles per hour ( a remarkable feat on India’s poor roads).
