The AMC Pacer

For the American Motor Company, the Pacer was the future. But when you look at this very strange car, you have to wonder what they were thinking. They’re probably still thinking that… Nevertheless, Car and Driver Magazine called this car ‘The Flying Fishbowl’. Still not sure whether that was a compliment or an insult. Much of the press loved the car. But those not on AMC’s payroll were far less effusive. Our favorite review of the car went something like this. “We’ve recently tested the new AMC Pacer. We wish we hadn’t.” Priceless.
